X-Ray Camera Captures Lightning Strike
An article on National Geographic and an accompanying photo (seen to the left) details the first image of an artificially induced lightning strike which shows x-rays at the head of the lightning bolt. The 1,500 lb custom-built camera takes ten million images at 30 pixels every second. National Geographic link.
The article was originally published on December 23, 2010 and the image was taken at Camp Blanding, Florida.

Michael Wolf's Tokyo Compression

Michael Wolf is a German/American photographer whose oeuvre explores the unique cultural identity of China and Hong Kong which has been his home since 1995. Along with Wolf's photographic record of the Hong Kong skyline and the environs below, he also photographs the citizens of the city and their living spaces.
In a new exhibition titled, "Tokyo Compression," Wolf captures the morning commute of Tokyo's citizens where they pack themselves into subway cars in overly cramped conditions. If I were to label the series of photographs with a single adage, I'd choose, "Suffer in Silence." Link to photo album.

Glee Photos Bordering on "Pedophila?" WTF?
Glee cast members Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, and Cory Monteith are featured in a photo spread in the November 2010 issue of GQ magazine which has erupted into controversy.
The Parents Television Council issued the following statement regarding the photos:
"It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on Glee in this way," PTC President Tim Winter said. "It borders on pedophilia. Sadly, this is just the latest example of the overt sexualization of young girls in entertainment."
He says that the photos, "borders on pedophilia." Tim Winters of the Parents Television Council needs to be educated on what pedophilia is before making any more stupid statements. By releasing a statement like that, Tim Winter trivializes pedophilia and one has to question his perception of the world, his motives, and what his intentions are. What the fack is going on in Tim's brain to bring up pedophilia when talking about models who are clearly adults?

Love Plus game inspires micro tourism niche
Konami's Love Plus game has already inspired a Japanese Romeo nicknamed "Sal9000" to get married to a video game character named Nene Anegasa. Now, the Love Plus phenomenon has made its way to the Breeze Bay Seaside Resort Atami in Shizuoka Prefecture. Konami has teamed up with the resort to install 12 "Augmented Reality" panels in scenic spots - the panels are capable of displaying images of Love Plus characters such as Rinko Kobayakawa and Manaka Takane on smartphone cameras.
When a young man in love stands next to one of the Augmented Reality panels, a passerby or a like-minded friend may take a photo that shows a Love Plus character standing next to him. According to Konami, the campaign has been a success with over 2000 visitors since its debut on July 10 through the end of August.
