DoDonPachi Resurrection in Europe
European shooter fans are looking forward to Rising Star’s localization of the Cave shooter “DoDonPachi Resurrection” aka “DoDonPachi Dai Fukkatsu” this winter but North American gamers are also invited to play because the game will be region-free. The game is scheduled to be released on November 11, 2011. Preorders are expected to open up at NCSX in the next few days.
According to Yen Hau of Rising Star games, the European version of DDPDF will be the 1.5 version of the game. From an interview with Electronic Theater, Hau said, “We will be releasing the final version of Dodonpachi Resurrection in one Deluxe package. This includes the final Version 1.5 and both Arrange modes which were included in the Japanese release. The Black Label Arrange mode and updated Version 1.51 will be available as [downloadable content] over Xbox LIVE. We will also include the official soundtrack in the pack, just as we did with Deathsmiles.”

Publisher’s Game Synopsis
Dodonpachi Resurrection (Daifukkatsu in Japan) is the fifth game in CAVE’s flagship DonPachi series.
After the turmoil caused by the assault on Lunapolis which sparked the “Blissful Death Wars” (as depicted in the previous installment), peace seems to have been restored, with the legendary DonPachi Corps retreating to its HQ in a space-time fold. Six years later, anomalies are detected in the space-time fabric, yet tests reveal nothing out of order, with the portals regularly functioning for both teleportation and time travel; also, the leader of the DonPachi squadron Colonel Longhena Gottvin dismisses the matter due to the lack of actual danger.
Nevertheless, a technician delves deeper into the anomaly, discovering that something has infiltrated the HQ computer systems and is using the portals to send large quantities of materials and data to the past, spreading out like a virus and quickly evolving. Unsettled, the Colonel authorizes the last transport ship to time jump in order to fight back the invasion before future changes.
Once again, the three pilots jump back in time to 2008 and enter the fray, the transport ship being targeted as soon as it exits the portal: the Element Daughters, gigantic evolutions of the Dolls, are awaiting… The bee is still humming.
Key Features
Xbox 360‐only Features. Now players can experience Dodonpachi Resurrection the way it was intended, for arcades. Challenge the complex scoring system of Arcade mode in full HD resolution with an arcade stick or Xbox 360 controller.
An AI that adapts to the player. Dodonpachi Resurrection for Xbox 360 features a remixed mode “Arrange B” which adjusts itself according to the user’s play style. With every play-through, bullets increase or decrease according to skill. With each clear, enemies get harder to kill and more bullets fill the screen, on the other hand giving incredible scoring opportunities. The only stop to this progression is the skill of the player him or herself.
A Tribute to a Classic. Exclusive to the console release, “Arrange A” is the second remixed mode included with “Resurrection”, which borrows some of the gameplay mechanics of PS2 shooter classic and prequel “Daioujou” for a massive challenge.
Online scoreboards and replays. Dodonpachi Resurrection features online scoreboards and replays to let you compare your scores to friends as well as the best of the best. Online score sharing is a huge step over the PS2 days and conveys the relevance of point‐based games much better than any offline console has ever done.

Nintendo shares rally, 3DS changes coming?
Nintendo shares rose 8.4% to 13,100 yen on Tuesday trading after rumors surfaced that changes are in store for the company's 3DS handheld gaming system. Short-covering may have also contributed to the outsized move as short sellers withdrew their bearish bets on the embattled video game maker. Dogged by slow sales of their latest handheld wunderkind which was supposed to have taken over the world by now, Nintendo's leadership is taking a closer look at the 3DS according to French technology website 01net.
One of the changes mentioned by 01net is the development of a second analog stick to be mounted on the right side of the 3DS. As improbable as that sounds, if Nintendo does proceed with a hardware enhancement, it would likely have to be included free with future games that support the controller as an in-game-freebie for wide adoption. 01net also mentions a new Nintendo handheld gaming system that is set to replace the 3DS next year which again, sounds highly suspect for Nintendo to abandon the 3DS platform so quickly instead of following the usual 5-7 year life-cycle of gaming platforms. Can Nintendo pull an HP, who dumped the HP Tablet only 7 weeks after the release? Both rumors from 01net get the "HIGHLY UNLIKELY" stamp along with flashing lights on the B.S. meter.
In addition to the rumors sprouting from 01net, Dow Jones Newswires reports that Nintendo will host a 3DS trade show that is taking place next month in Tokyo. Investors may be heartened by Nintendo's proactive steps to shore up the 3DS after the company's stock has taken a drubbing this year.

CUP Final Fantasy VII Rufus Memorial Cup - Import Preorder
In the Final Fantasy VII game, Sephiroth attacks Shinra HQ in Midgar and President Shinra is killed along with all of the staffers and workers. The President's passing gives his son Rufus the opening to become president of the company. To commemorate the event, the Shinra company holds an inauguration ceremony to mark Rufus' ascension which was complete with a parade, red banners, and red drinking cups. Why the color red? Because Rufus means "Red" in Latin. Square's thoughtful like that and considerate of decorum.
Square Enix celebrates Rufus' presidency in Final Fantasy VII by announcing the production of a red cup with the name "Rufus" scribbled across the front in the same script that was used in the banners in his in-game parade. The cup is colored a dark red that's opaque so the level of the beverage inside may be spied. Preorders are welcome to ship on October 2011 at JPY1000 or US$23.90 from NCS.

Chinatown Fair: a documentary
Chinatown Fair: a documentary from Mark Hayes on Vimeo.
Tucked away on a narrow sidestreet in Lower Manhattan lay Chinatown Fair, one of the city’s (and the country’s) last independently owned video arcades. Home to a loyal group of gamers, the arcade was the pinnacle of the East Coast fighting game scene. When it suddenly closed in February 2011, the players were left to find a new home.Combining interviews with crowdsourced footage, Chinatown Fair tells the personal story of the connections that were formed at the arcade and how they can survive after a shared space no longer exists.

It took me 6 months of on and off shooting to finish this project and I've learned a couple things along the way.
First off, LA might be the entertainment capital of the world, but it sure is difficult to shoot around downtown without having homeland security officers, police, or security take notice and harass you. Know your shooting rights!
Shooting time lapses is a labor of love and a study in patience.

Playstation Vita, Japan Only in 2011
Stateside retailers who have already started accepting preorders for the Playstation Vita are going to have to wait a little longer to fill those reservations. Legend of Zelda Historical Pins Collection
NCS Product Synopsis
Update: August 3, 2011
«©NCSX» The Zelda games by Shigeru Miyamoto have captivated children and adults alike for nearly three decades. That kind of staying power and devotion demands respect and merchandising. Takara Tomy pays homage to the Zelda franchise by announcing a collection of 16 pins who feature the game covers of every release in the Zelda library. Every one of them starting from the original Legend of Zeldafrom the Famicom (aka NES, stateside) to the recent remake of Ocarina of Timeon the Nintendo 3DS. It's a shame that Skyward Sword won't be included in the collection.
The Zelda pins are normally sold randomly from gashapon dispensers in Japan which entails a lot of duplicate pins and knob spinning. However, to ease the burden of collecting all 16 pins in the collection, NCS is gathering them all up and selling them in a complete 16-pin pack. Pricing is set at US$68.90 from NCS. Reservations are welcome to ship in November 2011.
